The Spirit of Christmas Toy Drive

Celebrate the season of giving by donating a new toy to the Nine Flags Festival to ensure every child in Nacogdoches County has a magical Christmas. Donated toys will be distributed through the Nacogdoches County Children's Charities. Drop off your unwrapped toy November 14-December 12 at the Visitor Center, 200 E. Main St.

Festival of Tree

See beautifully decorated Christmas trees--one representing each of the nine flags that have flown over Nacogdoches throughout its rich history. Trees will be on display November 14-December 31 during business hours in the lobby of the Visitor Center, 200 E. Main St.

Downtown Christmas Tree Lot

Holly Hill Farm, a local Nacogdoches Christmas tree farm, will be selling Christmas trees downtown behind the Visitor Center, 200 E. Main St., on November 28-December 24. Bring the family and come pick out that "perfect" tree under 3 million twinkling lights. Holly Hill Farm will also be selling fresh garlands and wreaths.

Millard's Crossing "An Old-Fashioned Christmas"

Revisit Christmas at the annual, "An Old-Fashioned Christmas," at Millard's Crossing Historic Village. This charming Christmas candlelit event offers a nostalgic setting for a variety of Christmas activities in a historic village. Catch a performance of Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" or try your hand at the player piano. Enjoy demonstrations of how things were done in the "old days" from lace makers to old-fashioned games, and don't forget your favorite yuletide treats! The event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at Millard's Crossing Historic Village, 6020 North Street. $5 adults, $4 children.

First Friday Night

Jingle Bell Run

This certified 5K run is set for 8:30 a.m. in downtown Nacogdoches with the 3K walk beginning shortly thereafter. The awards presentation will be held at 10 a.m. Registration forms will be available at the Visitors' Center, 200 E. Main St. and online. The race winds its way through the historic streets of the oldest town in Texas and will kick off a full day of festival activities downtown. Lighted Christmas Parade and Fireworks

The largest lighted Christmas parade in East Texas will be winding its way through the historic streets of downtown Nacogdoches, which itself will be glowing with more than 3 million festive holiday lights. Following the parade is the annual fireworkds show that has become an anticipated highlight of the Nine Flags Festival. The 30-minute explosive display lights up the sky above the oldest town in Texas. Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. Arts, crafts, and food vendors will be set up in the square from 4-9 p.m. Free Admission.

First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches Christmas Open House

The members of the First United Methodist Church invite you inside. Come enjoy music, refreshments, and a tour of the decorated church from 5:00-6:00 p.m. with the Youth "Live Nativity" at 6:00 p.m. on the front lawn. The Bell Choir will perform from 5-6 p.m. on the front porch and wassail will be served in the Bell Tower. Free Admission. 5:00-6:30 p.m., 201 E. Hospital St.

Texas Old-Time Fiddler's State Championship Contest

Junior and senior divisions followed by an out-of-state division which will feature some the best fiddlers in the country from outside the state of Texas. The contest is open to the public so come on out for some of the best family entertainment you'll ever hear. This year's competition will be held at Banita Creek Hall. Festivities will begin Saturday around 9:30 a.m. and will finish around 4-5 p.m. The music will begin again Sunday around 12:30 p.m.

Dress your little cowpokes in their best duds for this costume contest. Contest open to all children ages 12 and under, and entry into the contest is free. Entries will be judged on overall appearance, neatness, and creativity. Prizes will be awarded for categories 6 & under and 7-12 years. First place prize in each category is a Montana Silversmith belt buckle. Second place prize is a gift certificate to Mike's BBQ.
